Roads from all over the world converge to the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, Sněžka (1,603 m above sea level). However, one of the most beautiful leads from Luční bouda, where you can get from Špindlerův Mlýn either through the picturesque valley of the White Elbe, on the way through Kozí hřbety or Dlouhý dol through the cottage Výrovka and Modré sedlo. From Luční bouda, lying on a plateau, it is only 3.5 km to the top of Sněžka with an elevation gain of 330 meters. The path leads through the picturesque region of the Úpské rašeliniště to Obří sedlo and from there through the real mountain terrain to the top of the mountain. You can go back to Luční bouda either the same way or along the Friendship path already in Poland and turn from it to Rownia pod Sněžkou. This hike is famous by beautiful views not only of Dlouhy dul (“Long valley”) and the settlement of Svaty Petr (“St. Peter”), but also of Podkrkonosi (“The foothills of Giant Mountains”) and whole central Giant Mountains. Hut Vyrovka is situated on the ridge halfway between Spindleruv Mlyn and Pec pod Snezkou with a nice view of the eastern part of the Giant Mountains. It is also an important junction connecting routes to Cerna hora (“The Black mountain”) or across Modre sedlo (“The Blue pass”) to Lucni bouda (“Meadow hut”). The way from Spindleruv Mlyn leads through Svaty Petr (“Saint Peter”) and really long Dlouhy dul (“Long valley”). This route is relatively not frequently walked considering the Giant Mountains conditions and you will meet here only a minimum other tourists out of season.
