From the Giant Mountains through the Jestřebí Mountains

Picturesque Czech landscape

We will look to the east of the Giant Mountains and their smaller mountainous brother, which is the Jestřebí Mountains. We will thus enter the secrets of the Czech Maginot Line, which was the second largest fortification in World War II. Our trip will offer beautiful views of our landscape, which everyone will enjoy. We will start from Horní Malá Úpa and end in Rtyně in the Krkonoše foothills. Already in the mentioned Upa, which is located at 1050m.nm There is a mini-brewery Trautenberk. Maybe it is the highest brewery in our country. Definitely worth tasting. From here, we drive through Eliška's valley, which offers views of Sněžka. In Lysečenská bouda you can have refreshments or then meet in Horní Albeřice, where there are also refreshments. From here we ascend again to the border where there is a beautiful view of Sněžka. We continue in the direction of Rychorská bouda and from there it will only descend to the Stachelberg Artillery Fortress, which was built as the largest. Here we set out on an educational trail and transition to the Jestřebí Mountains. All the way, the landscape will be lined with fortifications. The ascent to the Jestřebí Mountains is a bit more difficult, but then only a gradual road awaits. I would not miss the Markoušovice lookout tower. You will enjoy the view. You will then enjoy the rest in Jestřebí bouda. And from here over the highest peak of Žaltman to Bohdanšín, where we came across a willing pub owner in a pub. We will end the journey in Rtyně, where the largest wooden bell tower is in our country

View from the lookout tower

From here is a wonderful view and a look at what we already have behind us. Sněžka is still visible on the horizon.

Bunkers

Ropes and log cabins are everywhere. Some even freely accessible. Therefore, a suitable flashlight and caution. Because the log cabins are multi-storey.
