Hike Strážné - Cottage Na Rozcestí
A journey through the most beautiful meadows of the Giant Mountains
Strážné lies in the southern part of the Giant Mountains, practically in the middle of this mountain range. There are a number of hiking trails. Most of the circuits lead from here to the cottage Na rozcestí. The start of this tour is in the parking lot Strážné „Lom“, which lies less than two kilometers north of the municipal office in Strážné. We will go to the Na Rozcestí cottage with the longest of the three classic variants via Bouda na Pláni, Klášterka and Klínové boudy. You will mainly enjoy the beautiful meadows of the Krkonoše Mountains and nice views
Along Klínový potok
From the large parking areas, we set off at the beginning along the Klínová brook (also called the Little Elbe). The first local attraction is the mighty Hranostají skála
Crossroads
There is a crossroads near Hranostají skály and we leave the Klínový potok here and set off up the hill along the green hiking trail. This is the steepest climb from the whole hike. In total, about 700 altitude meters and 8.5 kilometers await us at Chalupa Na Rozcestí
Shenlan
After a short climb, you will have a view of the first mountain meadow on this hike. It's called Shenlan here
Shelter At The Beautiful Plain
After half an hour of climbing from the parking lot, you will reach the large crossroads Krásná pláň. It's not that beautiful here, but there is a shelter that can help in an emergency.
Road at Krásná Pláně
Here we will leave the green route and continue along the blue road up the asphalt road – straight as somewhere in the western USA. The road also serves as a K17 cycle path
Hájenka
Finally we disconnect from the asphalt, and slowly come to the second meadow with a nice hunting lodge
Shed on the Plain
The first really great place on this tour is the Hut on the Plain with a beautiful view
Road to the Monastery
Right behind the Cottage on the Plain, a view of the still distant Klínové boudy opens up. You will also find a well here, so you can add water. The path descends for the first time on this hike to the valley of the Jehněčí brook. In spring you will find remnants of snow here
The monastery
After walking through the forest, you will appear on another meadow with the Klášterka cottage. This is where the most beautiful part of the march begins. You still have nice views of the surrounding meadows and peaks
The path along the Wedge Buds
You will disappear from Klášterka in the forest for a while, you will cross Klín's ditch and you are already on the meadows near Klín's huts. Now a kilometer and a half long ascent through this beautiful landscape with scattered cottages awaits you
Crossroads at Klínových bud
The road climbs and the views are getting better. Kotel in the west of the Giant Mountains is also starting to peek out. The last, highest shed here is Klínovka, where it is possible to have a snack. Directly above us is the peak of Zadní Planina (1,423 m above sea level), but no hiking trail leads
Final ascent to Chalupa Na Rozcestí
From the crossroads at Klínových bud, turn sharply to the left and walk to the shelter above Klínovky. An ideal place for a break with a great view. From here, the last ascent with ever better views awaits you. Finally, the path will take you to the low forest for the last time
Cottage at a crossroads
After about three hours you are here at the cottage Na Rozcestí (1,348 m above sea level) with the possibility to refresh yourself. And how to get out of here? You can return to Strážné along the red tourist path. The path can be further extended, for example by the path to Luční Bouda and back.
