Hikes through the beautiful Krkonoše meadows
One of the excellent tourist destinations in the Giant Mountains is a place called Strážné – quarry. There is a large (free) parking lot from where you can go on a number of interesting hikes. Most of them meet either at Klínovka or at Bouda na Rozcestí. These hikes offer beautiful views to the south and west and you will enjoy the beautiful meadows of the Giant Mountains. What's more, there is a beautiful cross-country trail in winter directly from Strážné.

After the red at Chalupa na Rozcestí
From the starting point of Strážné lom, there are a number of options for going to the higher Krkonoše mountains. Probably the most frequented route is along the red-marked path through Lahrovy body, Přední and Zadní Rennerovky to Chalupa at the crossroads. On this hike, you will go through a number of picturesque mountain meadows with views mainly of the Krkonoše Mountains. Strážné lies in the southern part of the Giant Mountains, practically in the middle of this mountain range. There are a number of hiking trails. Most of the circuits lead from here to the cottage Na rozcestí. The start of this tour is in the parking lot Strážné „Lom“, which lies less than two kilometers north of the municipal office in Strážné. The path leads from the bottom of Klínový důl along an unmarked path, and then ascends to the picturesque meadows around Fries' huts. Strážné (800 m above sea level) is a mountain village located high above the town of Vrchlabí. It is also a great starting point for summer and winter sports. Following a well-maintained trail, you can get to the famous cross-country Krkonoše highway from here in a short distance, after which we run to Klínovky, from where it is only a short walk to the famous Na Rozcestí Cottage with a beautiful view of Sněžka. continue reading
