Cross-country skiing Strážné - Cottage at the crossroads

You can get to Strážné by a mountain road with four curves starting in Hořejší Vrchlabí (a turn-off from the main road leading to Špindlerův Mlýn). The settlement itself lies in a small mountain saddle. There is a large car park, which we will use as a starting point for this cross-country ski tour. The cross-country ski run starts right behind the car park at the mountain service building

Before we run out, we can enjoy the view of the hill Žalý (1,019 m above sea level), located on the other side of the Elbe valley.

From Strážné there is a beautiful view on the other side in the direction of Černá hora and Liščí hřeben. If you want to explore the local area properly or have a great starting point to more distant places in the Giant Mountains, you can stay, for example, in the beautiful cottage Kulíšek, which can also be seen in this photo.

The start is slow, but count on you to be 10 kilometers ahead of you when you will almost always climb the hill

After less than a kilometer, we are at the Šestidomí hut, from where there is a nice view of the region

We still have a few views before the road definitely disappears in the forest. The track is beautifully groomed, so it runs well

The route from the east goes around the peak of Přední Planina (1,198 m above sea level) and after six kilometers from Strážné you will reach the place U srubu. From here, you will finally have a little descent

Finally we leave the forest and a beautiful panorama opens up in front of us in the area of Klínovy bud

The road climbs up the picturesque landscape around Klín's huts. There are several hiking and cross-country skiing trails, so there is more traffic than in the previous passages.

The road climbs up to the saddle between Zadní Planina (1,423 m above sea level) and Světlý vrch (1,314 m above sea level). The views are wonderful.

After 10 kilometers and almost 600 altitude meters, we are finally at the Cottage Na Rozcestí. An ideal place for refreshments and gaining strength on the way back.

The cottage has a perfectly magical surroundings with a famous view of Sněžka.
