One of very nice circular hikes starting in Spindleruv Mlyn leads over Kozi hrbety (lit. “Goats ridges”) to the tundric plain near Lucni bouda with view of the highest mountain in the Czech Republic – Snežka. From there you ascend into the pass Modre sedlo (lit. “Blue pass”) (1 510 m asl) with a beautiful view of the western part of the Giant Mountains (“Krkonoše”) and its foothills (“Podkrkonoší”). At the hut Výrovka you will start to descend through Dlouhý důl (lit. “Long mine”) into Svaty Petr (lit. “St. Peter”) and back to Spindleruv Mlyn.

Hike Spindleruv Mlyn – Lucni bouda

Across Kozi hrbety

Rating:
| Altitude: 1 415 m / 4 642 ft

Shortest and perhaps the most beautiful way from Spindleruv Mlyn leads through Kozi hrbety (“Goat ridges”) to tundra meadows around Lucni bouda (“Meadow hut”). This hike is famous by beautiful views not only of Dlouhy dul (“Long valley”) and the settlement of Svaty Petr (“St. Peter”), but also of Podkrkonosi (“The foothills of Giant Mountains”) and whole central Giant Mountains. In winter is this path often closed due to avalanche danger. continue reading

Hike Vyrovka - Lucni bouda in winter

Across Modre sedlo

Rating:
| Altitude: 1 510 m / 4 954 ft

Short, but very nice walk over Modre sedlo (“The Blue pass”) (1 510 m asl), which is between the second and third highest mountain of the Republic, is rich in views of the southeast of Giant Mountains, practically the whole Podkrkonosi (“Foothills of Giant Mountains”) and Upske raseliniste (“Upa peat bog”). In winter there is a brisk traffic of skiers and in the summer it is full of cyclists, for whom is Modre sedlo one of the biggest challenges in the country. Tourists come here in large numbers at any time of the year. The distance between Vyrovka and Lucni Bouda is only 2.5 km. Ascent 150 meters, descent 90 meters continue reading

Hike Spindleruv Mlyn - Vyrovka

The way through Dlouhy dul

Rating:
| Altitude: 1 360 m / 4 462 ft

Hut Vyrovka is situated on the ridge halfway between Spindleruv Mlyn and Pec pod Snezkou with a nice view of the eastern part of the Giant Mountains. It is also an important junction connecting routes to Cerna hora (“The Black mountain”) or across Modre sedlo (“The Blue pass”) to Lucni bouda (“Meadow hut”). The way from Spindleruv Mlyn leads through Svaty Petr (“Saint Peter”) and really long Dlouhy dul (“Long valley”). This route is relatively not frequently walked considering the Giant Mountains conditions and you will meet here only a minimum other tourists out of season. The trail is about 6 kilometers long and elevation is 640 altitude meters. continue reading
