Directly from Bouda U Bílého Labe you can go for an interesting walk along the river Čertova strouha. There is also an educational trail, so you can also learn about the Giant Mountains. This short hike is interesting in that there are beautiful flood control measures from the end of the 19th century, when small overflows slowed down the flow rate of these rivers in case of heavy rains. Now we can enjoy small waterfalls here

U Boudy Bíle Labe

This tour starts at the White Elbe Hut, where there is heavy tourist traffic most of the day. However, only a fraction of tourists set off in the direction of Čertova strouha or Špindlerovka. Most go along the main route from Špindelrov Mlýny to Luční bouda. Right next to the cottage is a bridge over the White Elbe, from where there is a nice view of this river.

On the other side of the bridge you can see the confluence of the White Elbe with the Čerotva strouha stream.

At the waterfall on Čertovy strouze

The first 200 meters you go along with the yellow hiking trail leading to Špindlerův Mlýn. Then only along the footpath of the nature trail. The first major attraction of this walk is the waterfall on Čertova strouze. There are plenty of rock plates around, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside.

Red stones

Directly above the waterfall is a riverbed quite wide and full of red stones.

Picturesque valley of the Devil's Ditch

The valley is very picturesque in these places and it is said that the pace is slowing down. In addition, there are fewer tourists than in the White Elbe Valley.

Wooden bridge over the Devil's ditch

After about 20 minutes walk you will cross the wooden bridge to the other side. There is blueberry all around, so an ideal snack if you're here at the right time of year.

Ascent along the Devil's Ditch

The ascent along the river itself is not very physically demanding, you will ascend about 150 altitude meters for a total of 1.5 kilometers of the route.

Cascade of artificial waterfalls

Just before the end of the nature trail is a nice cascade of artificial flood waterfalls. Behind them is again the bridge to the other side and virtually zero remains of a smithy. You can return the same way from here, or if you continue to head to Špindlerův Mlýn, then faster along a wide road that also leads here.
