Spain is a very mountainous country with a high average altitude by European standards. However, mountains in the highest mountains such as the Sierra Nevada or the Pyrenees do not reach such heights as the Alps.

The highest Mountains
The highest mountain of Spain you will not find on the Iberian Peninsula, but far to Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands. It's Pico de Teide 3718m asl. Until the second highest peak is Mulhacen (3479m asl), located in the Sierra Nevada in southern Spain, Andalusia.
