Lake Neusiedl covers an area of 315 square kilometers, 240 square kilometers, belongs to Austria and the remaining 75 square kilometers to Hungary. Lake Neusiedl is the largest steppe lake in Europe. Together with Lake Balaton, there are only two and, like Lake Balaton, it is also really shallow, at most two meters. Thanks to this, and for its unique local fauna and flora, it is inscribed on the UNESCO list.
