Empire hunting lodge near Břeclav

About 2 km south of the town of Břeclav is the Empire hunting lodge Pohansko, which was built between 18 10 and 1812. The building is open to the public during the season and refreshments are also available here
Hunting lodge
Pohansko Castle is a relatively monumental Empire building with a rectangular floor plan. The main facade is divided by arcades on the ground floor, while there is a long loggia on the first floor. Arcade wings are symmetrically located on the sides.

Archaeological excavations
The castle was built in close proximity to the ancient Slavic hillfort, located northeast of the castle. Since 1998, excavations from this site have been displayed in an exhibition in the castle's interior.

View of the pond
The castle is located on the shore of an artificial lake created from a blind arm of the river Dyje. By the lake there is a light fortification museum with an exhibition of bunkers, border barriers and trenches.
