Or the highest mountain of Menorca

El Toro (or Monte Toro) is the highest point on the island of Menorca. Its height varies – it is reported from 362 to 375 m above sea level. It rises almost in the middle of the island and is a dominant feature of the surroundings. Menorca is not a mountainous island, but neither is it flat. It is covered with low hills, against which El Toro looks like a mountain.
On the top
The first thing that catches our attention at the top of El Toro is a tall column with a statue of Christ. There is also a large parking lot and several transmitters at the top.

Place of pilgrimage
Since El Toro is also a place of pilgrimage, there is a monastery from the 17th century that has become an important center of culture and art. There are regular pilgrimages to Monte Toro. However, in the meantime it is possible to visit the local church. The monastery also offers a gift shop and a restaurant with a view.

View
However, the main thing that ordinary tourists drive / go to El Toro for is the view here. There is a wonderful view of the entire island from here, and in good weather you can even see neighboring Mallorca to the southeast.
