Or we explore the corners of the northern part of the island

There are many things to admire in Menorca, and one of them is the local lighthouses. Among the most interesting are the trio of lighthouses located on the outcrops of the northern side of the island. Among these is the Faváritx lighthouse.
The way to the lighthouse
Faváritx has one major disadvantage and that is the distance. The parking lot is about 3 km away from it and you have to walk the rest. It's no honey in the hot climate here and on the asphalt road.

Cala s'Escala
On the way we pass the Cala s´Escala beach. As everywhere in Menorca, we are amazed by the clarity of the water. However, the beach is quite rocky. That's probably why there aren't too many people here.

A bit of geology
Menorca is a geologically very interesting island. While the south side is mainly limestone, the north side is very variable. The Fávaritx lighthouse is dominated by slate, which we have not encountered anywhere else on the island.

Lighthouse
The lighthouse dates from 1916 and, like most local lighthouses, was created in response to a ship disaster. The lighthouse is typical of its striped tower whose height is a respectable 28 meters.

Views
The lighthouse itself is not accessible, but you can get around to the lookout point on the neighboring rock. Since the lighthouse is located on a prominent promontory, one can admire a beautiful view of the coast from here.
