1.
Gondogoro Trek

Trek into the heart of Karakoram

Rating:
| Altitude: 5 625 m / 18 455 ft

One of the most impressive mountain areas of the world lies on both sides of Baltoro glacier. Mountain range Karakoram is dominated here with the ridge Baltoro Muztag with the second highest mountain in the world – K2 (8,611 m asl). And right here leads Gondogoro trek (sometimes called Baltoro trek, K2 trek or Concordia trek). The starting point to the entire area is the provincial town of Skardu reachable not only by bus along Karakorum highway, but also by air from Islamabad. From there it is only a few hours away by jeep to the beginning or end of trek in Askole, or rather in Hushe. Unlike the „competitive“ area around Everest, which sometimes looks like a recreation place for retirees and where mass tourism abounds at every turn, it still has a nice expedition atmosphere here. The trip to Pakistan is worth even just because of the area around Baltoro glacier. From Askole it takes at least five days before arriving at fabulous place Concordia that is surrounded by lots of beautiful mountains and the best view of K2. continue reading

| Altitude: 2 373 m / 7 785 ft

We went on a trek in November 2015, after a devastating earthquake. The route led through MUGU HIMAL, around Lake RARA, to the kingdom of DOLPO, a visit to SHEY GOMPY, around Crystal Mountain and back around Lake PHOKSUNDO. A total of 333 kilometers, a total elevation gain of 25 kilometers in 23 days. There were eight of us trekkers, 10 Nepalese porters, a guide and a cook. Manaslu Circuit trek + Tsum Valley

19-day trek around Manasl

Rating:
| Altitude: 5 075 m / 16 650 ft

From all the beautiful treks in Nepal, we chose the circuit around Manaslu 8 163m (Ghost Mountains and the eighth highest mountain in the world), which lies in a less visited tourist area, until recently banned border area with Tibet. The road is geographically beautiful and culturally fascinating. The inhabitants of the upper Buri Gandaki are direct descendants of Tibetan immigrants who settled here in the early 17th century. Thanks to that, the language, clothes and customs are exclusively Tibetan. The pearl of the trek is a five-day visit to Tsum Valley – a valley opened since 2010. We went to the trek at the end of October to mid-November and the weather was absolutely luxurious. continue reading

Forbidden kingdom

The entire area had until recently a partial autonomy, which was canceled in 2008. But the access is still regulated by the need to obtain (and pay for) the entry permit and have the Nepalese guide. Upper Mustang is located around the river Kali Gandaki. On its banks are even today many wonderful fossils of plants and animals. The views of Himalayan peaks dominated with the ridge of Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri will accompany you throughout the entire trek. And Buddhist monasteries and buildings give the whole journey a pleasant spiritual dimension.   continue reading
