Where to go on a trip to Thassos
Thassos is the northernmost Greek island and offers an abundance of really beautiful beaches. The trips are thus mainly directed along the local coast. However, you can also go inland, where there are several beautiful villages and the relatively high Ypsarion mountain (1,204m). Almost everyone who visits the northernmost Greek island of Thassos makes a trip to the longest beach here – Golden. You can find it in the northeast of the island. It is suitable for children thanks to the gentle waves and sand. The beach is three kilometers long, so it takes quite a bit of time to go around it. The oldest village on Thassos
In the interior of Thassos you will come across several mountain villages. Perhaps the most interesting and certainly the oldest of them is Kastro, which you can find above the resort of Limenaria (approx. 12 kilometers drive on a wide and decent asphalt road). The village is located at an altitude of almost 500 meters above sea level. The village is almost completely abandoned – only two families currently live here.
