Tourist circuit above Košov

This roughly hour-long walk begins in Košov, a small village lying in the saddle of the Kozákovský ridge just below the Tábor peak. From the main road you can drive less than a kilometer to the tourist crossroads Košov (there is a significant landmark – a transformer). From here, climb the road marked with three colors (yellow, blue and green) up the hill. Below you in a small valley lies the cottage settlement of Morcinov with several nice log cabins.

On the left you will have, behind a low thistle fence, the Košov golf course. There is also a necessary small lake.

Just before the end of the ascent, a green tourist path disconnects, leading further to the small ruins of Kozlov Castle and further to the Cidlina railway station. Just a little further, at the southern end of Morcinov is a very beautiful timbered cottage.

Just a few meters away is a crossroads at the crossroads. You are almost at the top of Ředice (649 m above sea level), which looks more like a rolling plateau rather than a hill. Here, the yellow hiking trail descends through the deep forest to Libun and further to the center of the Bohemian Paradise. We will continue on the blue

After another few tens of meters you will reach the highest point of exploration and in front of you will open a wonderful view of the whole of northern Bohemia. There is also a bench, so you can sit here and enjoy for a long time. To the west you will see the whole of Bohemian Paradise, including Trosek and Vysker. In the distance, Bezděz and the Kokořínská hills, including Vrátenská mountain.

On this lookout you can feel a bit like on a balcony above northern Bohemia – 400 meters below you is the whole valley of the Jizera with Turnov and on the horizon dozens of hills of the Lusatian Mountains. The bent Ralsko stands out dominantly from the region.

The observation balcony is caused by the fact that the Kozákovský ridge here turns relatively sharply to the north. The beautiful peak of Ještěd can also be seen on the horizon.

The northern horizon is filled with the „endless“ ridge of the Jizera and Giant Mountains.

Just below the observation deck is another crossroads. The blue hiking trail begins to descend through the settlement of Rváčov to Rovensko pod Troskami. However, we turn right along the 4017 cycle path. We are waiting for less than a kilometer to go to the cottage settlement of Popelka – still with a beautiful view to the west. The river of the same name also springs in Popelka.

In the settlement of Popelka you will connect to the main red tourist route along which we will return to Košice. A little further on are nice, well-kept log cabins. These are built at the Zadní Popelka crossroads, where you can extend this trip alternatively with a walk to the ski jumps.

If you want to see the ski jumps, less than a kilometer walk in one direction through the wooded valley of the river Cinderella. The largest of the bridges also functions as an interesting view of the surroundings.

From the log cabins at the crossroads, the steepest part of the ascent back to the plateau awaits you. The landscape around is still very picturesque. From the hill it is only about half a kilometer back to the transformer.
