A walk from Nová Ves nad Popelkou
Sightseeing circuit in the Giant Mountains
From the hills above the valley of the river Popelka are beautiful views of the picturesque landscape of the Giant Mountains with the dominant ridge of the Giant Mountains in the north. You can take a nice circuit in this region from Nová Ves nad Popelkou. The circuit described by us has 5 kilometers and 80 meters of elevation gain, so it's just a nice hour's walk
Church of St. Prokop
A good starting point for this circuit is the parking lot next to the church of St. Prokop

From the church we climb around the farm on the cycle path No. 4277. Gradually, the views of the village open up. About half of our circuit leads along the route of a nice bike trip from Jičín to Lomnice nad Popelkou.
The first view of the Giant Mountains
After climbing the top of the terrain wave, you will see the Giant Mountains on the horizon for the first time. You will also find that a short descent to the Taliňák pond awaits you

We reach the Kněžsko crossroads from where there are beautiful views of the Giant Mountains and the local red clay

Now we turn left (west) and go along the top of the flat ridge. The loving part of the trip begins with constant views of the Giant Mountains
Around a beautiful tree
From Kněžská it is less than a kilometer to turn to the footpath, after which we descend back to Nová Ves. In addition to views of the Giant Mountains, we can enjoy the view of Tábor or Kumburk in the south. The path leads not far from an interesting cross between two trees
