At high basalt hill (642 m asl) stand the ruins of castle Kumburk. It is slowly being reconstructed by volunteers from the surrounding villages for the last few years. Except for preserved dungeons and tower you may be interested in the beautiful panoramic view of the Giant Mountains, Podkrkonoší, Bohemian Paradise and in good visibility also up to the Lusatian Mountains.

Entrance gate to the castle

From the crossroads below the castle awaits you around half-kilometer long ascent (about 70 altitude meters) until you reach the sprawling entrance gate to the castle. The path was recently adapted, so you can get here comfortably also with prams.

Below the outlook tower

The path in the area of the ruins rises in circles around the most massive tower, from which is now great view of the countryside. You see here the remnants of the moat and ramparts.

Below the top of the castle

After you pass through the second „gate“, you get to a small stand and base of enthusiastic volunteers, who have been repairing this ruin in recent years. From there you can continue on along the moat or along further stairs upward in the direction of outlook tower.
