Cycle trip Jičín - Lomnice through Nova Ves

At the end of the linden alley, only 2 kilometers from the center of Jičín is the beautiful Wallenstein Loggia. Here it pays to make the first short stop

From Valdice we take the main road in the direction of Železnice, but near Těšín we leave this shortest route to Lomnice and climb in the direction of Újezdec (5km from Valdice), which is a very picturesque settlement under the ruins of the castle „Bradlec“: https: //www.gigaplaces. com / article-tour-ruins-castle-bradlec / where you can take a side trip.

From Újezdec we have the last ascent to Klepanda (496 m above sea level), where it is possible to have a snack in the restaurant. There is a larger parking lot and especially a lot of people on weekends, because from here the most classic ascent leads to the ruins of the famous castle „Kumburk“: https: //www.gigapla­ces.com/clanek-prohlidka-zriceniny-hradu-kumburk/. You can go all the way to the castle, so for those interested, a more possible side trip with a detour of a total of 5 km. From here, however, we set off on a cycle path – first on asphalt to the farm and then on gravel. We have interesting views of Kumburk Castle and then finally of the Giant Mountains. We descend to the picturesque bench, which is an ideal place for a break. From here you can see our subsequent journey through Nova Ves and then along the ridge Kněžsko – Císařova hůrka

The road continues down into the valley of the river Cinderella. We cross the main road and climb around the church again to the farm. From where there are nice views „back“ to Nova Ves. Then follows the descent to the pond Taliňák and then we are at the crossroads Kněžsko is a few meters from the peak of the same name (486 m)

Now we have a comfortable path, about 2 km, along a flat ridge to Císařova hůrka, which is easily recognizable thanks to the mast of the mobile operator

The views from the ridge are great: Tábor, Kumburk, but mainly the Giant Mountains ridge

Císařova hůrka (543 m above sea level) is the highest point of this circuit. Amazing place to watch the Giant Mountains ridge

From Císařova hůrka it is a short walk to the view of Kozákov and especially an interesting ride along the Lomnice nad Popelkou airport, where you will connect to the road

The shortest way to Jičín is on the second class road 286, which you connected to at the airport. A more interesting way is through Košov
