At the eastern end of the long Ještěd-Kozák ridge stands the distinctive mountain Tábor (678 m above sea level). Although it has an overgrown peak, thanks to the lookout tower it has a beautiful view, especially of the Giant Mountains.

You can drive directly to the top of Tábor – there is not only a lookout tower, but also a guest house and restaurant. Besides, it is a great crossroads of hiking trails. From here you can walk to Jičín, Lomnice nad Popelkou or Nové Paky. An entrance fee of CZK 20 is collected for the lookout tower.

Northwest view

With good visibility, the peaks of the Lučice Mountains, such as Hvozd or Luž, can be seen far to the northwest. The dominant Ještěd is a bit closer.

However, the most classic view is towards Lomnice nad Popelkou. The horizon is formed by the Jizera Mountains and the western part of the Giant Mountains.

Above the winter inversion

In winter, sometimes Tábor sticks over the famous inversions, so you can get to the sun relatively quickly and you don't have to go all the way to the Giant Mountains.
