A walk from Košov to the ski jumps
Hike to the most interesting lookout tower
The crossroads above the village of Košov is a popular starting point for walks with beautiful views of the Giant Mountains. The most interesting place in the vicinity are the ski jumps, which serve as a very interesting lookout point. Most visitors arrive directly below them by car or follow a tourist route. We will, however, go to them from the other side – unmarked – and thus come directly under the observation tower.

We will park the car at the Košov – crossroads (there are 3 places here). There are refreshments (operating in summer) and accommodation Apartments Na Rozcestí . From there we will go along the narrow asphalt road in the direction of the Hrádka settlement. From here, an interesting view of the Jičín Basin, located more than 300 meters below, opens up.

Deep below us you can see the main part of the village of Košov lying along the road. The trip to Košov from the Jičín basin is the most difficult cycling activity in the area. On the horizon we can see the higher Tábor hill with a lookout tower – also a very popular tourist destination.
Picturesque building
Along the way you will come across several picturesque buildings. There are also other accommodation options. After the road was paved here, the local village is more accessible after all.

Finally, we come to a crossroads, where there is a beautiful view below Babylon peak towards Lomnica nad Popelkou and the entire Krkonoše ridge up to the Jizerské mountains.

From the lookout point, we climb the dirt road. We see another local favorite place – Kumburk with the ruins of the castle. It is a good idea to use a mobile map application for this section, as you follow unmarked paths through the forest.

We walk through the forest for less than a kilometer before the silhouette of a ski jump appears in front of us. It is freely accessible – the entrance fee is voluntary.
