The heart of the Kokorin region
The most visited place in the whole Kokořín region is undoubtedly the Kokořín castle, built on a sandstone rock. Without a guide, you can climb the lookout tower and walk through the castle palace. From the castle tower it is beautiful to see how heavily forested Kokořínsko is
Convenient ascent to the castle
Directly to the castle there are two paths, one short steep one by stairs or a comfortable „pram“ for a little longer. Most visitors go through both.

Strong walls of Kokořín castle
The castle is built on sandstone rocks with very high walls – it looks impregnable. You can enter the steps through a small gate or go around it and enter the main entrance.

Opposite the tower is the castle palace – it is only accessible with a guide
Stairs to the tower
The ascent to the tower is possible without a guide and you can reach it by a wooden staircase. The walls of the tower are decorated with coats of arms of aristocratic families

The exit from the main gate was tactically made to the bridge leading to the adjacent sandstone rock
The castle on the other side
From the main gate, the road leads to Mácha's Rock with a „viewpoint“, but practically nothing can be seen from there, despite the growing vegetation.

From the castle you can descend a steep staircase directly to the tunnel leading through Kokořínský důl
