Article Ascent to Brada

If you begin the ascent from the parking place in front of the restaurant, you will be on the top of the hill in five minutes and only 35 altitude meters, making it a perfect „trip“ for small children. But if you walk from Jicin, you will come here, however, in about an hour. There is a cross and statues of holy patrons on the top. There are also benches and blackboard with names of hills that you see from here. It's a perfect place to have a rest and admiring the views before your next trip.

In the west direction there is a broad pretty view of the end of Jicin basin bordered by Jestedsko – Kozakovsky ridge. You can also clearly see wooded hills with ruins Bradlec and Kumburk. Entirely on the horizon is the renowned outlook of the Giant Mountains – Zvicina. Directly below the hill lies the village Brada with the Church of st. Bartholomew, from where you started the ascent.

In the south lies the district town Jicin – a gateway to the Czech Paradise.

In the north there is the view of the ridge separating the Czech Paradise from Podkrkonosi (“The foothills of the Giant Mountains”). The eastern part of the ridge is dominated by the hill Tabor (678 m asl) with a viewpoint. Nice hikes can be also undertaken from the village of Kosov.

Thanks to the deforestation there is a new outlook on the Czech paradise with Trosky, Vysker and Kozakov. Far horizon is dominated by Jested ridge with mountain Jested.
