Amazing view of not only two dams
Mooserboden Dam is not only a weekend destination for hikers, but also a great starting point for a number of interesting tours and beautiful mountain climbs. One option is a comfortable ascent towards the mountain cottage Heinrich Schwaiger Haus. Even if you do not plan to walk there, it pays to climb in that direction also because of the panoramic view of both dams
Start of the tour
At the eastern end of the dam is a T-shaped crossroads. Half of the tourists turn right and continue along the dam either for a short walk or to the Kapruner Törl saddle. We turn left and after a while we have the dam below us
Fairytale meadows
After a few tens of meters you enter a small valley, where there is another crossroads. From here, the road also leads through the Jägerscharte to a side valley leading to the famous Grossglockner road. We continue in the direction of Heinrich Schwaiger Haus. In the middle of summer there are beautifully blooming carpets of alpine flowers
Traverse overlooking
This is followed by a half-kilometer section where you climb only slowly, basically still traversing the slope under the rock wall. A potentially slightly dangerous section where something can fall on your head. The dominant canine in this view is Hoher Tenn (3,368 m above sea level)
Retrospect
As you ascend, it will force you to keep turning. The view of the dam surrounded by mountain giants is breathtaking!
Beautiful views
From the end of the traverse, the right ascent begins with endless serpentines up to the cottage. There are still 2 km, 600 altitude and 40 bends left. The views on the climb are really beautiful
Panorama of both dams
From around the 20th turn, you will reach a rock from where you can finally see both dams in one shot. An ideal place to relax before the final ascent to the cottage
