From the Mooserboden Dam you can organize a number of nice walks, hikes and mountain ascents. If you head west, the ascent awaits you to a nice view of the lake or a little further to the simple peak Kleiner Grießkogel (2,669 m above sea level). From there you can continue to the three-thousand-meter Großer Grieskogel (3066 m). Even higher (the already challenging ascent is the Hocheiser peak (3206 m). It depends on how much time and energy you have. Just continue in this direction for only half an hour for nice views

The starting point of the tour

The starting point of this tour is at the western end of the dam. There are coffee tables, so for many people an ideal place to relax with beautiful views

View of the exit path

It is only a few tens of meters along the gravel, leading to a picturesque cottage. Then you will climb a zigzag green slope to climb a rocky shoulder (in the foreground of the picture). A possible destination for those who want at least a basic prospect. At the top right, both Grießkogels can be seen

Cottage in Mooserboden

The local cottage is really picturesque. If it weren't for the crowds of tourists, it's a really great place. After some five minutes of ascent, the view of the lower dam also opens up

View of the dam

With increasing meters, you have more and more in the palm of your hand a view of both dams, the small hill Höhenburg, and the exit path to the cottage Heinrich Schwaiger Haus

Views from the exit path

The views are really worth it – both on the dam and on the surrounding peaks and glaciers

Under the top of a rock branch

After a longer traverse of the slope, the road bends sharply and finally you approach the top of the rock branch (approx. 2300 m above sea level)

View of both dams

There is a nice view of both dams from the rock arm. At this point, you are less than halfway up the Kleiner Grießkogel

View up to Grießkogely

Now you have to climb the rock arm, which is significantly flatter than the previous ascent. Such a rest before a steep final ascent

Beautiful views from the rock arm

Even if you don't have time to climb to the top, it's definitely worth a little more height on the rock shoulder. The views of the dam and the surrounding 3,000-meter peaks are breathtaking
