Due to its size, India is ideal for long journeys. You can spend months here and still explore only part of the country. However, it is also basically a small continent. But count on traveling in India very tiring due to the great heat, humidity and incredible crowds. Nevertheless, very interesting and inspiring. Few travelers after visiting India say that this journey did not affect or affect him in any way.

Landscape types

Petr Liška Wrote 28.01.2013:
  • ** The mountainous north of India: ** Of course, the most interesting for mountain lovers is the whole of northern India with dozens of Himalayan areas suitable for trekking – for example from west to east: ** Kashmir , ** Ladakh and Zanskar **, ** Lahaul and Spiti **, ** Kullu ** and the whole ** Pir Panjal **, in Uttarkhand area ** Shivlingu ** and ** Nanda Devi **, ** Sikkim ** with Kanchenjunga and practically unknown to tourists ** Arunachal Pradesh **. – ** Desert Northwest: ** This large area is filled by ** Thar Desert. ** You will find interesting desert towns, dunes, camels. In addition, it is relatively easily accessible from Delhi – ** Golden Triangle: ** the area on the coast of the sacred rivers Ganga and Jamuna in the relatively close vicinity of Delhi, full of historical monuments from the Mughal era ( Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Jaipur **) and in an extended version i ** Varanasi ** in the Ganges and ** Khajuraho **. – ** Tropical South India: ** this area is far less visited by tourists, if we omit ** Goa ** – ** Andaman and Nicobar Islands: ** a little different India and the most beautiful swimming in the country

Traveler Itineraries

Classic Itineraries

Petr Liška Wrote 28.01.2013:
  • ** Golden Triangle: ** which is the most classic of trips around India. You will visit the most famous monuments in ** Delhi ** and its surroundings, including the icon of India ** Taj Mahalu ** in ** Agra ** and finally the interesting ** Jaipur **. You only need about a week to do this. Quite often this circuit is extended by interesting ** Varanasi ** located on the sacred river ** Ganze ** or desert city ** Rajasthan **. – ** Northern India Circuit: ** Starts in green Kashmir. From here you continue to Ladakh and on to Spiti and Himachal Pradesche. Finally, you can end it with monuments in the Golden Triangle extended by Rajastan.

Off Beaten Itineraries

Petr Liška Wrote 28.01.2013:

Tourists significantly less visited parts of India lie in the middle and south of the country. Even so, you can come across a lot of interesting places here (** Mysore, Thanjavur, Kanchipuram ** and many others)

Combination with neighboring countries

Petr Liška Wrote 28.01.2013:
  • ** India + Nepal: ** quite often a visit to India is combined with a trip to Nepal. A nice combination of a monument in India with a great trek or excursion circuit in Nepal.

Journey around the World

Petr Liška Wrote 28.01.2013:
  • One branch of the classic land long journey from Europe to China leads through India (journey through Turkey – Iran – Pakistan – India – Nepal – Tibet to China) – Or the so-called Great Himalayan Circuit (India – Pakistan – China – Tibet – Nepal – India ) via Khunjerab Pass and Friendship Road)
