How to get to Ladakh
Three ways to start this great journey
A new and easy and cheap starting point for trips to Ladakh is New Delhi. From there you have three ways to get to Ladakh. – ** By air to Leh **: the simplest option, but a bit impractical if you want to do a complete circuit. – ** By bus via Himachal Pradech **: unfavorable for a start due to high altitude, ideal rather as a return trip – ** By bus / plane via Kashmir **: Ideal for us, when in addition outside Ladakh you can even get to know the green for a few days Cashmere

Traveling in West Ladakh
At the interface of cultures
Most travelers just pass through West Ladakh on their way from Kashmir to Leh or vice versa, or on their way to Zanskar, and that's a shame. The Suru Valley in particular, below the 7,000-meter Nun and Kun, has a lot to offer. Moreover, Western Ladakh is a little different from its more famous and visited larger part located around India. The „line of control“ border with Pakistan dividing the original territory of Kashmir between the two countries is only a few kilometers away. continue reading

Trekking in Zanskar
- If you are not just going to travel on small tours, continue from the Suru valley to Zanskar and from there take the so-called Zanskar trek (Padum – Lamayuru trek) to Lamayuru. In the old itineraries, this trek is mentioned for 8 days, but thanks to the extension of the road on both sides, it only takes days 5. – Otherwise you have to return by bus back to Kargil and from there continue to Lamayur – ideal for a break and tour and to Leh
Kargil - Léh
Journey from Muslim to Buddhist Ladakh
The road from Kargil to Leh overcomes two high passes Namika la and Fotu la la in a typical ladack landscape of arid mountains and green oases. Halfway is also interesting Buddhist monastery Lamayuru with renowned colorful festivals. The road then leads through the valley of Indus, where it is worth to stop in Likir monastery. A short way from the village Nimu is interesting confluence of river Zanskar with Indus, each of which has a slightly different color of water. Generally, there is always something to look at on this journey through Ladakh. continue reading
