The Modlivý důl rock chapel is one of the biggest attractions, which you will find in a picturesque area southeast of Nový Bor. There are a number of possible hiking trails. One of the shortest is the path around Dědovy kameny (only 2.5 km and 150 altitude meters)

Ascent to Dědovy kameny

We will start this short hike at the parking lot in front of the Svojkov chateau. After two hundred meters of comfortable walking, we turn right and start climbing the hill along the yellow hiking trail. Less than a hundred meters high awaits us before we reach the edge of this small rock town – Svojkovské rocks. The rocks offer a wide view of the region

In the distance are Bezděz and many other hills falling into the protected landscape area Kokořínsko and Mácha region

View of Česká Lípa

Far closer is Česká Lípa, partially hidden behind a low ridge and two dominant hills – Vlhošť and Ronov

Road along the edge of Svojkovské rocks

Along the edge of the rocks, a footpath leads several hundred meters to the „official“ viewpoint of Dědova kameny, which is overgrown and there is not much to see with it. Ie. the first „unofficial“ prospect is the best here

Pustevna Cave

The road continues to climb, but milder. After a while you will come to a small but nice, artificially created, cave Pustevna. From here it ascends to the wide top plateau of Tisový vrch. There is also a prospect, but also practically entirely overgrown.

Patrol cave

The road descends further to a crossroads with the main red tourist route, along which we will return. Not far from it is a nice patrol cave, aka another artificially created apartment in a rock massif

Rock Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes

For most tourists, the highlight of this tour is a tour of the beautiful rock chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes

Way back to Svojkov

Now we only have the last three hundred meters to start this circuit. The path through the Praying Mine is picturesque. You walk between the rocks along the Stations of the Cross. Water can be replenished in the U Strážce spring.
