The city of Karakol

Karakol, a city of more than 60,000, is the largest in northeastern Kyrgyzstan. It lies just a short distance from the Kyrgyz „sea“ – Lake Issyk Kul. In addition, it is a starting point to the beautiful part of Tian Shan – Tersky Alatoo and also to a much higher part lying on the border with China, where the mountains reach heights of seven thousand. The city itself is relatively dusty with a rectangular system of streets. Here you will find both socialist and old Russian monuments.
