Road to the interior of the national park
The easiest and shortest way from the town of Karakol to the eponymous national park is by hired transport, which will take you along the wrong road directly to the base camp. Of course, this path can be taken on foot, but most of the path leads through a dense forest without views, so it is not very attractive for Kyrgyz conditions.
In front of the gate of the national park
The entrance to the Karakol National Park is about 6 km away from the city center. You can comfortably get here by the number 101, which also runs through the main artery of the city, Toktogul Street. Here is an ideal place to stop it. Marshall has a terminal just a few hundred meters from the gate.
The beginning of the Karakol valley
The beginning of the valley is sunny and in nice weather it is very hot very soon. The surrounding hills are significantly deforested. At the entrance to the national park you have to register and pay the entrance 250 Som. Maybe the park staff will offer you transport to BC at extremely exorbitant prices. They can usually be negotiated up to 500 Som. At the hut of the national park, there are only simple sketches of the park on the metal boards.
Road between meadows
Another relatively decent path leads about 2 km to the turnoff to the ski resort (here the cable car can take you to the ridge up to about 3 thousand meters above sea level). The main road continues through the main valley and sometimes leads through really terrain.
Road along the forest road
A large part of the road leads through the forest, often on deep ruts, so you won't really drive an „ordinary“ car here.
Predatory river Karakol
In the places where the valley opens there are very picturesque views of the predatory river Karakol.
Off-road bus
You can also meet a huge off-road bus made from a truck. It is mainly used by travel agencies.
Beautiful valley of the river Karakol
The true beauty of the Karakol river valley stands out only about three kilometers before the base camp.
Transport through the valley
Unfortunately, there is no regular transport through the valley. You can either stop someone or take advantage of the offers of park rangers, who are thus illegally gaining themselves. It is true that their only purpose is to cash in from tourists, instead of taking care of nature.
Just before base camp
After about two hours of driving (or almost the whole day if you walk) you are already close to the base camp. You won't meet many tourists here, because the big trek goes from the Oguz diet to the Arshan Spa and only a short distance goes through the Karakol valley.
