They been there:

The second largest navigable alpine lake in the world – the Kyrgyz „sea“ Issyk-kul (1,608 m above sea level) is surrounded on all sides by high mountains. In the north it is the Kungey-Alatau ridge with the highest mountain Chok-Tal (4,771 m above sea level) and in the south the much better known and visited Těrský Alatau with the highest peak Karakol (5,218 m above sea level). So you can combine swimming in the lake and sunbathing on the sandy beaches and beautiful trekking in central Tian Shan.
