Pohoda u Issyk-kulu
Kyrgyzstan has a reputation as a tourist country for most tourists, but there are also many people (mostly from Kazakhstan or Russia) who spend their summer holidays by the water. No wonder – the waters of the lake are clear and moreover not too cold after the high altitude of Issyk-kul. The largest swimming center on the shores of the lake is Cholpon Ata, where you will find several very nice beaches.
Road to the beach
In Cholpon Ata there are many possibilities where to go for a bath. However, the most popular beaches are at the eastern end of the city. As everywhere around the lake, the main road surrounded by buildings is relatively far from the water, so you will always have a few hundred meters march to the water. Of course, it depends on where you will be accommodated. On the way to the water you can at least enjoy the view of the peaks of the surrounding mountains.
Beach opposite the Ruch Ordo Museum.
From the eastern end of the town, two parallel paths lead to the lake. One starting at the market and ending in the northern part of the bay, directly opposite the Ruch Ordo Museum, and the other leading through the extensive senatorial complex, worth a separate tour thanks to sculptures from the socialist era.
View of the Ruch Ordo Museum
The Ruch Ordo Museum itself is a pavilion depicting five religions and Kyrgyz myths and legends. However, if you want to swim with a feeling similar to the sea, you have to go even further south.
Water attractions in Cholpon Ata
Water sports and attractions go there in large numbers – inflatable bananas, jet skis, but also croissants circling over the lake you will meet here at every step.
Beach in the morning
If you want to be crowded with crowds, it is ideal to go swimming early in the morning. Most visitors come around lunch and are basically there until the evening.
Light sand
The best part of the beach is in the very south, where it is up to a hundred meters wide. The sand is beautifully bright here.
View of Tian Shan
What adds great charm to swimming at Lake Issyk-kul in Cholpon Ata are the views of the mountains. To the north is the Kungean Alatau Mountains, reaching altitudes of about 4,500,000 meters above sea level, so you can see a few glaciers. To the south, you feel as if you are at the real sea – the end in sight. However, with good visibility, you will find that you are really only at the lake, when on the other side, 60 km away, you will see an even higher Těr Alatau.
The best swimming in Cholpon Ata
The best swimming in Cholpon Ata is at the very southern end of the beach, where there are not many people in the afternoon and there are no jet skis that would disturb you from swimming.
