Mountains
Like most Greek islands, Lesbos and is relatively very mountainous. The height of the mountains, however, not exceed one thousand meters above sea level.
On Lesbos you will find nice mountains, but also very interesting „Petrified Forest“

In the north of the island lies the local highest mountain Mt. Lepetymnos at 968 m. In the south, only about one meter lower, but much more beautiful Mt. Olympus at 967 m.

Birdwatching
Lesbos is a popular destination for ornithologists. It occurs here over a hundred species of migratory birds. The best season for watching the birds is the spring, when they have a break here during a long flight from warm countries. Often you can see here flamingos. The best places for observation are in wetlands and salt marshes at the Bay of Kalloni.
