Lesbos island boasts with a worldwide unique – Petrified forest. A similar site can be found only in Arizona. You will see trunks that have survived (according to some sources) for more than twenty million years. It is the result of a large volcanic eruption that buried the entire vast redwood forests to the west of the island. You can see the remnants of these trees exposed by erosion in the picturesque valley a few kilometers away from the town of Sigri.
