A city at the end of the world
At the very western end of the island of Lesbos lies the picturesque town of Sígri. Most visitors will come here as part of trips to the western arid part of the island. In addition to the interesting Turkish castle, there is also a nice beach and nice scenery with small islands protecting the local port.
Exit to Sígri
The first view of Sígri, which you will see on a steeper descent from the arid mountains, is breathtaking. The white town surrounding the dark Turkish castle and the small islands create a beautiful panorama.
A secluded villa
An interesting view is also of the villa located alone on a small peninsula north of the city.
Windmill in Sígri
Right on the outskirts of the city is the first small local attraction – a windmill
Beach in Sígri
The road drops sharply from the mill down along the eastern end of the city. There is a small parking lot or you can park your car on the road leading to the beach. An ideal place to start a walk around the Tiger.
View of the Turkish castle
The destination of most tourists in Sígri is the Turkish castle, the only real major attraction of the city.
Houses in Sígri
The development in the city is such a classic „Lesbian“. Nothing that would significantly surprise or excite you
Massive entrance to the castle
The very entrance to the castle is guarded by two huge voices. Due to the fact that the walls are so thick and the top of the castle is missing, it looks optically very low.
Desolate interior of the castle
The interior of the castle is desolate, overgrown with weeds. It's a pity that there is no sign anywhere with a drawing of the castle in the greatest glory.
View of the Tiger
From the castle there is also a nice view back to Sígri
Church in Sígri
Probably the last attraction in Sígri is the church and the surrounding remains of the original Turkish bath hamam.
