The highest and most distinct mountain in the west of the island of Lesbos is a former volcano Ordymnos (511 m asl), often erroneously referred to as beeing slightly higher (634 m asl). It is visited by tourists mainly because important monastery Moni Ypsilou was bulit on its top. In addition, almost to the top leads a narrow road, so it's a popular stop also for organized trips. From the top is a very nice view over the arid west of the island.
