The original old castle (Alte Schloss) was built in Oberschleissheim in 1617 on the foundations of the manor house by Duke Maxmilian I. Later it was supposed to be part of the construction of the new castle, but for financial reasons it remained only in the plans. At present, there is a branch of the Bavarian Museum and exhibitions are taking place here.
