The Karwendel is a beautiful limestone mountain range north of Innsbruck and north of the Inn Valley. The eastern part of the mountains ends at the beautiful Lake Achensee, from where you can head to the scenic Falzthurntal and Gerntal valleys. The most important peak in this area is the beautiful mountain Sonjoch, which you can also try to conquer if you set aside an extra day.

In the Karwendel Alps you will find a number of beautiful places, one of which is the picturesque Falzthurntal valley. It starts at the town of Pertisau, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Achensee. From here it is about a 7-kilometer pleasant walk (or drive on a toll road) to the large Alpengasthof Gramaialm. The Gramaialm mountain farm (1,260 m above sea level) is a great starting point for many tours in the Falzthurntal valley. You can take challenging hikes, for example to the top of Sonnjoch or to the Östliches Lamsenjoch saddle.
