The shortest walk in the Rofan Mountains
The most famous starting point for the Rofan Mountains is the Erfurter Hütte mountain hut, which is built just a short walk from the final Rofan Seilbahn cable car. From here you can go on a number of beautiful tours of varying difficulty. If you want to take just an easy walk, go to a picturesque lake just half a kilometer from the cottage. The lake can be easily walked along the footpath
Starting point for hiking trails at Erfurter Hütte
Probably the most famous view of the entire Rofan Mountains is the view of the beautiful Gschöllkopf mountain (2039 m) directly from the Erfurter Hütte. Most tourists head for the trails up into the mountains. On the contrary, we will descend to the lake on the road number 413
Descent to the lake
The descent to the lake leads along a wide unpaved road overlooking the rock wall with the Rotspitze peak (2067 m)
Near the lake
After a few tens of meters we leave the dirt road and follow the path to the lake. In front of us we have a view of the complete Dalfazerkamm ridge with the highest peak Dalfazer Joch (2233 m)
The lake
After a few minutes walk we are at the lake. Most people love here and move on, but the whole lake can be bypassed, so it would be a shame not to do it
Road along the lake
The circuit itself around the lake is only less than half a kilometer
View of Hochiss (2299m)
From the end of the lake there is a nice view of the highest mountain of the whole Rofan – Hochiss mountain range (2299 m above sea level) with a cross on the top
View of Gschöllkopf (2039 m)
In addition, there is a completely different view of Gschöllkopf (2039 m) from the lake. We return the same way, this time uphill
