The Salzach River is the largest tributary of the magnificent Inn. The most visited and most beautiful part of the valley is to the north of the High Tauers, where the valley is mostly wide. The river then flows between the Tennengebirge and Hochkönig limestone mountains, where the valley turns into the narrow Salzachöfen Gorge.
