We started the Javorníky crossing in the village of Hovězí and continued in the direction of Pulčina, where we spent the first night. The next day we followed the ascent to Makyta and then along the ridge to the mountain hotel Portáš, where the second night awaited us. On the third day, it gradually climbed over Malý Javorník to Velký Javorník, which lies entirely on the Slovak side. We then continued down to Karlovice to the first possible bus stop.

Route description

We start from the parking lot on the square in the village Hovězí. In full sun we walk through the upper part of the village, where we follow the yellow sign leading us to the first hills. The path rises slightly up and down to the top of Filka 759m, here we change the color of the sign to green and after the peak of Radošov we descend into the valley so that we can see Půlčinský waterfall and walk along the chains between the rocks to Hradisko. We are camping in the woods. In the morning we will walk through the local rock town and the Fallen Castle (rock formation). The rest of the way is led by a red sign. Until now, water could be drawn during the journey. Now the only option is up to the spring behind Ezekiel, where there is a small well above the water tank, from here we claw back to the mark to reach the top of Makyta 923m. Here we meet several people who leave after a while and so the top and the ridge remain deserted for a long time. The top is fully forested, but the sun sometimes penetrates between the branches, which warms us pleasantly. A beautiful ridge path follows, only the Papaya Saddle makes it clear that we are still in the Beskydy Mountains, and the descent to the saddle with the subsequent ascent back to the ridge gives us a nice time. We go through the forest again to Kohútka, where we fill bottles with water and find a nightlife behind the hotel Portáš. The next day is a bit windy, but the temperature is still pleasant. A comfortable ridge lined with mature trees of Beeches, Firs, Maples and Spruces leads to Malý Javorník, the path is covered with grass up to the paved sidewalk and the whole thing creates a calming whole. Malý Javorník 1019m is just one of many ridges on the ridge, there is a small clearing and the border turns 90 ° into the forest. The tourist walk already leads in Slovakia. We pass the Stratenec lookout tower, from where there are wonderful views of the highest peaks of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy. Furthermore, the terrain continues mainly through meadows with a slight ascent to Velký Javorník. The views are only to the south and you can see Makyta behind the ridge. The descent is along the green mark and then along forest roads to the bus turntable in Karlovice Podťaté – Světlá bus. Route total 44 km Elevation 1952 m Descent 1705 m sleeping Bivouac
