On the ridge of Pusteven in the Beskydy, surrounded by a picturesque mountain landscape, stands a wooden pearl – the Maměnka cottage, which is located right next to Libušín.

This art nouveau beauty, designed by famous Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič, has been attracting tourists since 1899. The chalet is a national cultural monument, but it is not just a museum, but a working cozy mountain lodge with hotel rooms.

An architectural gem

Maměnka is an architectural gem that will captivate every lover of history, folk culture and beautiful nature. It is a multi-story wooden building with a richly decorated facade. It is characterized by typical Jurkovic elements, such as a shingled roof, arcades, turrets and richly decorated gables.

History of Mamenka

The construction of Maměnka was started in 1897 at the instigation of the Club of Czech Tourists, which wanted to satisfy the growing interest of tourists in the Beskydy Mountains. Jurkovič's design, inspired by the folk architecture of the Wallachian region, became a symbol of Art Nouveau style. Maménka was inaugurated on August 20, 1899 and soon became a favorite place for tourists and vacationers.
