The area is popular mainly among climbers, who have two popular destinations here – Nevado Sajama and Parinacotu. „Ordinary“ tourists will also enjoy here, especially on the popular trek around the alpine lagoons.

The most popular ascents are of course to Nevado Sajama and Parinacota. Less frequent to Pomerape and Acotango, even less to lower often nameless peaks.

Proper maps of the area do not exist. Only sketches with local attractions are available at the national park office. It is necessary to have an orientation sense for longer journeys.
