Žatec, a town with almost twenty thousand inhabitants, is best known worldwide for its excellent hops. The city center is Freedom Square with a dominant town hall tower with a beautiful view. The southern part of the town contains an interesting temple of hops and beer with a lighthouse beer tower. It is a pity that the historic center looks slightly unkempt and a little desert.
