The most important airports: The most important airports in Spain are Madrid (42 million passengers) and Barcelona (38 million passengers). Both are among the top ten in Europe. The airport in Malaga in the south of the country is also important. Other large airports include Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria and Tenerife south. Regional airports: each major city has its own airport and the system of inland routes is quite dense.
