One of the most popular short trips from Jičín is the way around nice symmetrical hill Zebín lying just outside the town borders. It is possible to ascend also the lookout Milohlídka on a smaller hill of Čeřov along the way, or ascend the hill Zebín itself, from which there is a very nice view. Nature lovers can admire here in the summer beautiful swallowtail butterflies fluttering on the warm south slopes. Adventuresome people can also explore old abandoned basalt quarry on the southwest slope. Favorite way back to the town leads around interesting Wallenstein loggia and nice linden alley, which is a paradise for skaters.

Quarry in Čeřovka

The path rises gradually along the blue trail from the center to Čeřovka hill (331 m asl), on whose top stands the lookout Milohlídka. There was once a great view in all directions. Unfortunately, it was gradually overgrown by trees and the view is now limited only in the southwest direction across the massive quarry, where used to be summer theater decades ago. The most beautiful season here is definitely an Indian summer, when local oak-beech forest is colored golden brown. In the summer, quarry looks a bit like overgrown by jungle.

Lookout Milohlídka

Lookout Milohlídka is a romantic building and also the oldest lookout tower in the whole Czech Paradise.

View from Milohlídka

If you are lucky that Milohlídka will be unlocked (usually only during the weekend), be sure to climb up. The view is only to the west towards the Jičín basin, but the building itself is worth it.

Along the panel road to the hill

At Milohlídka you shall leave the blue marked tourist path leading further along the river Cidlina and take the path leading along the former military panel road, which is significantly shorter. Zebín hill with its typical chapel on the top is visible from here in all its glory.

View of Čeřovka

After 2.5 km walk from the center the panel road joins the small road near the ranch. There are nice views from here back to the top of Čeřovka covering most of the town and a lot of horses grazing here most of the year.

View of Brada, Přivýšina and Prachov

It is also possible to see „new“ and less-known outlook point of the Czech Paradise – hill Brada that is already without wood. The ridge then continues to Přivýšina, where is the outlook in the contrary gradually becoming to be overgrown with wood and even further to famous Prachov rocks.

Pheasantry under Zebín

Right next to the farm is a small pheasant house. It is especially crowded here in autumn.

Cemetery under Zebín

From the viewpoint to the region it is only a few meters to the church and a small cemetery – from here begins the ascent to the very hill „Zebín“: https: //www.gigaplaces.com/clanek-vystup-na-zebin/, which is a recommended turn from this route

From the outlook point it is only a few meters to the church and a small cemetery – here begins the ascent to the very top of Zebín, which is the recommended detour from this trip.

But our path drops down to the interesting and unique Wallenstein loggia surrounded by a nice park. There is a small attraction for children in one corner – Hermit´s house.

Wallenstein loggia

Wallenstein loggia is a very interesting sight on the outskirts of Jičín – it is said that there is only one other similar building in Europe. Unfortunately, loggia has no longer much use nowadays.

Court of Honor

The main building of the Loggia is surrounded by the so-called Court of Honor, where cultural events take place. There is also a café where you can freshen up.

Linden alley

From Wallenstein loggia leads two kilometers long beautiful linden alley up to the center of Jičín. Geometrically considered is also the vista to the Valdice tower in the center.
