Advent in Jičín
The city in a fairytale atmosphere
Walks in the historic center of Jičín are nice not only during the day, but also in the evening, when the main sights are nicely lit. The city has an even more beautiful atmosphere at the time of Advent, when Christmas, not only light decorations, will be added here, and the Advent city will come to life here on Wallenstein Square.
Hus class
You can start your tour of Advent Jičín, for example, on Husova třída – the pedestrian zone and the main artery in the city center.
Žižkovo náměstí
After passing through the pedestrian zone, you will reach Žižkovo náměstí, which is dominated by the Valdice Gate – but it is not lit and looks quite sinister.
Jičín Wallenstein Castle
After passing through the Valdice Gate, turn right behind the Church of St. Of St. James to the castle garden. The castle on this other side always looks very mysterious in the evening, thanks to the mature trees.
Fountain in the middle of the castle garden
After you go down the stairs you are in the middle of the castle garden, which is dominated by a fountain or rather a swimming pool. In the hot summer, not only Roma children bathe here, now in the Advent season it is nicely decorated with light carps.

Apart from carp, you will also come across angels here.
In the castle courtyard
From the castle garden, head slowly up Smiřických Street. You can also take a small walk to the castle courtyards.
Christmas Wallenstein Square
The final and most beautiful stop is a tour of the extensive Wallenstein Square with a nice Christmas tree. In good weather, there is also a so-called Advent town, where you can taste traditional delicacies such as trdelník or slaughterhouse feasts.
