Beautiful view over Tanvald

The easily accessible Malý Špičák peak is located above the North Bohemian town of Tanvald in the northwest at a height of 678 m above sea level. This rocky peak is a very popular hiking destination for its easy accessibility and beautiful views. An unusual futuristic viewpoint is built at the very top of the hill
Špička lookout tower
At the top, an unusual metal lookout was built over the rock block in the fall of 2020. It is a relatively subtle metal structure, which is raised about three meters above the summit rock. However, it is a rather unusual design, the most striking element of which is the shiny belly. The design of the lookout, which caused a number of controversial opinions, was prepared by architects from the Mjölk studio from Liberec.
The viewpoint is freely accessible.

Panoramic view
The Špička lookout tower is interesting not only for its design, but also, of course, for its breathtaking panoramic view. Visitors can enjoy the view of part of the Jizera Mountains, the western part of the Giant Mountains and Ještěd with a transmitter.

A more challenging ascent to the viewing platform
Access to the viewpoint is unusually difficult and cannot be recommended for everyone. Especially not suitable for small children. A metal ladder leads to the top of the rock on which the viewpoint is located. From the top, you then need to climb to the platform using the second ladder. Due to load capacity, the number of visitors is limited to four people.

Viewing platform
From the viewing platform, everyone can enjoy the view of the valley at the confluence of the Kamenice and Desná rivers, the town of Tanvald and the ridges of the Krkonoše and Jizera mountains.

Bobsleigh track
According to the creators, the structure resembles a bobsleigh and refers to the former winter track for bobsleds and sleds, which started just under these rocks. The track was already built before the 1st century. war and its length was almost 1.5 km. However, the track has already closed and its track is now used as a freeride bike park.
