In the Jizera Mountains town of Smržovka we find one of the most beautiful railway viaducts in the Czech Republic. It is neither the longest, nor the tallest, nor the oldest in our country, but it is the second highest.
Railway viaduct
The viaduct was built by Italian builders on the line from Jablonec nad Nisou to Tanvald in 1894. It is built entirely of granite, thanks to which it has maintained a very good appearance.
National technical monument
This stone viaduct has a total length of 123.5 meters and consists of 9 arches. With its height of 23.25 meters above the ground, it looks really impressive. It is interesting that the viaduct is built in the curve of the track. Due to its uniqueness and preservation, it is included in the list of national technical monuments.
