Drive around the volcano Ollague

The road from the lagoon Caňapa still continues in a volcanic landscape and around after less than 15 kilometers away first appear, yet distant, view of the volcano Ollague.

After half an hour drive from the lagoons jeep stops at lunch place by the weathered small rocks with huge green Llarets – the most interesting vegetation in Altiplano. There is usually more than half an hour break before lunch is prepared, so it is right time to explore the rocks and visit the lookout of the volcano.

There is a beautiful view of the volcano from the tops of the small rocks. If you are lucky, you will see the volcano smoking.

Huge green Llaret looks almost like a counterweight to a volcano.

You can see in distance the small road leading up along the hillside. From the Chilean side also leads the road up to the sulfur pit below the peak reaching 5,650 or 5,670 meters above sea level, making it after the sulfur pit between two volcanic peaks of Uturuncu probably the second highest road in the world.

Tourists make use of the time to explore the small rocks, car driver usually fits the car and the cook prepares something to eat.

After lunch you will continue across the Salar de Chiguana. Outside constant views to volcano Ollague you can also see colorful top of volcano Cerro Tomasamil (5830 m asl).

However, there is a series of volcanoes around salar de Chiguana. Most of them do not even have a name.
