Triglav (2,864 m above sea level) is the highest mountain in Slovenia and the entire Julian Alps. Several routes of varying difficulty lead to the top. We chose an easier route from Rudna Polje through Vodnik's house and Planika's house. The last about 300 m of ascent is still secured by steel ropes.

Triglav 2864 m

Start of the ascent from Rudno field

I have been speculating for a long time whether I can handle this ascent. I found a lot of trips on the internet, mostly from Aljažev's house of ferratama. We were 4. We were looking for accommodation and places that we want to visit in Slovenia and we started planning the ascent to Triglav. Capable tourists will be able to climb in one day. We planned it for two, but I think that our route could be managed in one day … but … We found accommodation near the beautiful Lake Bohinj in the village of Stara Fužina. Before the trip we had the ascent to Triglav planned from Trenta via the Luknja saddle, we wanted to continue to the cottage Koča na Doliču and to the cottage Dom Planika. Stay overnight here and go to the top in the morning and return to the car. But what was it like finding us that it would be very difficult to get to Trenta by car. We would have to go around almost the whole of Slovenia. All that was left was to quickly find another way to the top. We leave very early in the morning and move by car from Fužina to Rudno polje. We pass a large sports ground here and look for a place to park, where we leave the car until the next day – we are doing well in the woods, where other cars are parked. Hard with our backpacks packed for two days, we first set off through the forest, then to Planina Kojščica and up into the mountains. The road leads through the cottage Vodnikov dom, where the last chance is to get drinking water. Around lunch we are at the cottage Dom Planika, we managed it quite quickly and so we are considering an attack on the top today. We snack, we keep our backpacks in the cottage and there is a storm. Such a terrible storm that I was completely sorry for the people who were up on Triglav. Even though the storm passed and the weather was nice again, we left the climb for the morning. We get up at sunrise and set off. We choose the next procedure via Malý Triglav. Here we already meet with safety aids and put on harnesses (yes, some guys can do it without a harness, so I don't: D). There are a lot of people here, more roads and the road from Triglav House to Kredarica connect here. There are so many people that we often stand and wait for the road to clear. According to the markings, the exit from the Planika House should take 1:30 am, but we already have a long delay. Finally, with a very airy route, we get to the top, where the top hiding place awaits us, where about 6 people can hide in bad weather. Unfortunately, the top is shrouded in clouds and the views are poor, rather none. We take a top photo and disappear again the same way, through a crowd of tourists on a secured path, down. The weather is starting to deteriorate again, we are not staying too long at the Planika House and we are returning in the direction of the Vodnikov House. On the way back we are overtaken by a storm and a heavy downpour.

Mountain Konjščica

Konjščica appeared to us after crossing the forest. Behind this plain, rhododendrons and mountain peaks are already appearing. It is possible to buy milk and cheese here.

From here we will climb. The elevation of our ascent is about 1500 m.

Guide house

We already see Vodnik's house, the last place where we get supplies of drinking water. In the distance you can see the top of Triglav and also below it our current travel destination cottage Dom Planika.
